Bigger Engines

In order to purchase engines bigger then "G" power you need to be a legal adult(18 or older) and certified by the NAR or Tripoli.

To get level 1 certification which is engines H &I power, all you need to do is successfully fly a rocket of that power in the presence of two other certified members of your organization (only 1 for Tripoli). E.G., if you belong to the NAR then build a rocket that flies on an H or I and launch it in the presence of two members from the NAR that are already certified, but don't forget to have both of them sign your high power application and fill in their NAR number.

Level 2 certification is a bit harder to achieve. It allows you to fly engines in the power range of J, K, & L. You need to do the same as above which means building and flying a model that flies on one of these size engines in front of 2 members of your organization, but you also must pass a written test before you can even fly it. The test has a pool of 100 questions, but it will only ask you 50 and you need at least an 90% to pass. If you would like to see all 100 questions and answers to study then click here.

If you want to attempt level 3 certification then click here, but this is big time money and time on your part to get a chance to launch a rocket of this size. It has been done many times, but it is a commitment to safety and perfection.

In order to move up in certification levels, you must successfully achieve the one prior to it. So no skipping around, first get your license then go for level one. And please remember that amateur rocketry is supposed to be fun, so don't rush anything and enjoy all of your time spent with this incredible hobby!
